Yesterday, I completed the Reading Half Marathon. My time was 1:52:21. In the last few miles, I didn’t think I was going to be able to make it, but I held on. It’s funny how much of it becomes a mind game after a while. I knew that if I stopped once, just for a minute, that would be it. I’m happy with my time and really happy that I finished.
There were 17,000 people there yesterday. It turned out to be a long day.
This morning my legs are very sore, but they still work.

Congratulations ! 1h52’21” is a decent time. I ran my first half marathon in about 1h50 if I remember correctly.
30 minutes faster and you’re good for the NYC marathon qualification time 🙂

That is awesome…congratulations! I have a 10k coming up that I am training for. If all goes well, a half would be next. I think that will be the apex for me though 🙂

@RunningTracker
Thanks RunningTracker. I wish I had used your app on this run. I went the entire morning without a phone and ran the entire course without knowing what my time was.
I tell ya, I don’t think I’m ready for a full marathon yet. I toyed with the idea of doing a full marathon this year, but after finishing this one, I think I need more training.
Thank you ver much for your congratulations.

@Derek
Thanks Derek. Good luck with the 10k. I know you’re gonna sign up for the half as soon as your runners high wears off for the 10k. I feel like running now, I’m so excited about finishing. But my legs are so sore!

Well done on the half marathon though I have to say having run with you in the past and knowing your ability would have expected a much better time. Even a fat sod like me managed 1:53 (in the rain), so keep up the training and let’s see sub 1:45 next time.
PS I’m hoping to run the Southend Half in June so if you fancy a day by the sea let me know and I’ll forward an application form.

@Wayne
Thanks Wayne. But I’m not exactly a spring chicken here. I would have liked a sub 1:45 time, but I honestly felt like I gave it my all. I left nothing on the field (or pitch, or whatever).
I may be interested in Southend. I’ll drop you a mail.
Thanks for the buzz kill! 🙂
